2018 Lifesavers National Conference on Highway Safety in San Antonio, TX
I was honored to receive the Traffic Safety Scholarship at the National Lifesavers Traffic Safety Conference 2018 in San Antonio, TX. The Lifesaver conference was a unique opportunity to meet with highway safety researchers and professionals. I was very impressed by the speakers in the opening plenary. The keynote speaker Ms. Hersman, National Safety Council CEO, gave an unforgettable talk on how zero-death on the roads should become a standard. Moreover, the lifesaver conference had many workshops and seminars in the diverse subjects. Attending several sessions, I learned about Wrong Way Driving, Distraction in Patrol Vehicles, and data-driven research to investigate drunk driving. Besides, I had a chance to present one of my research projects in crash prediction using The SHRP 2 Naturalistic Driving Study. I have enjoyed conversations with several professionals in NHTSA, TZD, and other students. Last but not the least, I found new friends among the scholars. We had so much fun during Fiesta Festival visiting Market square, River Walk, and La Villita. I highly recommend applying for future TSS to all students in transportation engineering, public health, construction management, and any other major related to the safety of our roads.
